Tommy Vallejos was born in the barrios of Roswell, New Mexico. He lost two brothers and a stepfather to gang violence on the streets that surrounded his young life. In an effort to escape “The Streets” Tommy joined the United States Army in 1980. As a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, he fought in the Gulf War leading an infantry platoon from the 101st Airborne Division into combat. He was award the Bronze Star for actions in the Gulf War. As a Sergeant First Class he served three years as a Drill Sgt at Ft Knox, Ky turning civilians into soldiers.
Pastor Vallejos’ life continued to change when on Sept 7, 1987 he became a Christian while serving in South Korea. He retired from the US Army in 2001 with over 21 years of service to his Country. While in Germany, he and his wife founded the Christian Servicemen Center in Hohenfels in 1997 that is still going strong. Today he serves on Freedom International Outreach Advisory Board, formerly known as MTTM.
He is an Associate Pastor at Mosaic Church, which serves over 2000 members. Pastor Tommy has served in ministry for over 34 years. Pastor Vallejos is also a former two term Montgomery County Commissioner. When elected in 2010 when he became the first-ever elected Latino County Commissioner of the state of Tennessee. Pastor Vallejos has ran for State Rep twice and most recently lost my 153 votes. He currently serves on numerous Statewide boards. Pastor Tommy has been instrumental in pushing Criminal Reform from the White House to the State house. Because of these efforts he was appointed by Tennessee Governor Bill to serve on the Tricor board.
TRICOR exists to provide occupational and life skills training for Tennessee’s incarcerated population through job training, program opportunities, and transitional services designed to assist Offenders with a successful reintegration into society. Pastor Tommy also serves with Men of Valor Ministry based out of Nashville which is a Christ based prison reentry program serving hundreds yearly.
Pastor Tommy often counsels and mentors former gang members in to becoming productive members of their communities. He enters the prison system on a regular basis preaching the gospel to a hurting population, providing them hope and restoration.
Today he resides with his wife of 40 years, Caroline Vallejos, in Clarksville, TN. Pastor Caroline is the Children’s Pastor at Mosaic Church. They have four grown children who are making a difference in their community. His daughter Kristina Johnson currently serves has a GS 12 on base, serving those with special needs. Pastor Tommy & Caroline also have been blessed with 7 grandchildren. He is a graduate of the North Tennessee Bible Institute and Seminary with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Practical Theology. He is a graduate of Leadership Clarksville 2011, Leadership Middle TN 2012 and Leadership CMCSS 2014.
